Fitness should be fun. RunKeeper Street Teams, posting activities to Facebook and twitter, RunKeeper FitnessFeed, and more recently, RunKeeper FitnessAlerts have all been designed to make fitness more social and fun. Today, we are adding an additional piece of …well, fun! We’re happy to announce an exciting partnership with our friends at Foursquare.
Nope, this isn’t a location check-in feature, it’s a fun way to influence healthy behavior by earning badges for achieving certain fitness milestones. That’s right, you can earn Foursquare badges, not for checking in, but for doing healthy stuff! And the only way to unlock these badges is by using RunKeeper.
You can earn these Foursquare badges using RunKeeper in a variety of ways. For example, if you complete a marathon using RunKeeper, you’ll unlock the marathon badge.
Don’t worry, not every badge requires running a marathon, but we aren’t going to tell you what they are – that would be to easy! You’ll have to find out on your own. We’re sure that after a few activities you’ll start to find them [hint hint].
To be fair, you will only earn badges with RunKeeper activities completed after you link your RunKeeper account with your Foursquare account from http://runkeeper.com/settings/sharing. When you unlock badges, they will appear on your Foursquare profile and in your RunKeeper FitnessFeed, so you can show off your shiny new badges to your Street Team members.
We hope you enjoy earning your RunKeeper Foursquare badges!
Jason
