We’ve Got Friends—For Android!

Here at RunKeeper we’ve always thought friends are a great way to keep you out and moving and pushing for new goals!
About three years ago we first brought social to the RunKeeper Web experience, and last month we expanded it to the mobile app with the new ‘Friends’ tab on iPhone. We promised it wouldn’t be long for Android users, and, well, the big day is here!
Now you can also find friends from Facebook or your phone contacts, without leaving the app. Those buddies will show up on a leaderboard, ranked by number of activities completed each month. You can even remind the inactive ones (some call them couch potatoes) to get up and moving, with convenient in-app messaging.
Other cool aspects of this Android release include:
• An updated activities page that groups your already completed activities and upcoming workouts all in one convenient place
• A slick new tabs navigation at the top (the Settings menu can be found by clicking the top right button)
• Added flexibility when signing up for a training plan, around what week you can kick the plan off
As a reminder, if you want to take full advantage of the Friends tab and leaderboard competition, be sure to connect your RunKeeper account to your Facebook account. We’ve got more information for you here and here on how to control what posts to Facebook.
Download the new Android release and let the friendly competition begin!
