There’s so many reasons why winter poses a threat to our running routine, it’s hard to know where to begin. The fierce wind, the sub-zero temperatures, the 4pm sunsets, the icy roads. While we can’t keep the sun out for longer, we can battle one of those problems: ice.
And, no it’s just but giving up on the outdoors and running on the treadmill (known to some as the dreadmill). You can actually put things over your shoes to tear through slippery roads like a champ. They’re called Yaktrax and they’re amazing.
The removable spikes and steel coils provide traction through the toughest conditions, so you can feel stable and confident on icy paths. For the sake of your joints and the product’s wear and tear, avoid wearing Yaktrax on bare pavement (i.e. very plowed and shoveled paths). But they’re perfect for packed snow and those days when you just can’t stand being inside anymore.
