Stay Safe in the Sun: Sunglasses for Running

Besides adding a dose of style to your running outfit, sunglasses are incredibly important for both visual comfort and ocular health. Especially as the days get longer and the sun gets more powerful.

Hats and sunscreen might be a no-brainer when the sun is out in full force, but we often neglect to offer the same protection to our eyes! Sunglasses are crucial for protecting your peepers and surrounding skin from harmful UV light. Proper protection can help prevent wrinkles, cataracts, and other serious skin or eye damage. Although many of these issues will not appear until later in life, it is important to do what you can now to prevent long term damage.

Finding sunglasses that are built to stay put during sweat sessions can get pretty expensive, luckily, we offer several options in the Runkeeper store that are geared towards an active lifestyle and can fit almost any budget.

Goodr offers glare-reducing, polarized lenses and UV400 protection to keep you safe and comfortable.  Choose from a variety of fun colors (including a proprietary Runkeeper Blue) on the Runkeeper Store. They’re also extremely affordable at $25 a pair. Shop goodr sunglasses.

Remember, it’s important to invest in good lenses. The general rule of thumb is to look for sunglasses that protect you from 99 to 100 percent of both UVA and UVB light. Lenses labeled as UV 400 (blocks all light rays up to 400 nanometers) will protect you from all UVA and UVB light.
